Working primarily in oil and acrylics in an expressionist
style to interpret the Vancouver Island landscapes, seascapes and flora, Elissa
Anthony captures emotion and soul in her work. Her wide range of professional
and artistic skills combined with a unique and funky sense of humour provide
a delightful range of original art.
Elissa was born in Ontario and grew up in North Vancouver. She studied to
be a graphic artist at George Brown College in Toronto. She has worked in advertising,
printing, display and in the motion picture industry as a scenic artist. Elissa
then spent ten years living and studying fine art in England. Ms. Anthony spent
much time visiting major galleries in Europe, redefining her artistic outlook
and garnering as much information about painting and art history as possible.
Her unique impressionist style evolved.
In 1997, Elissa made an inspirational move to Vancouver Island. She has had
many one-woman and group shows at The Old School House in Qualicum Beach, Nanaimo
Art Gallery, Nanaimo Arts Council and private venues. Elissa has won awards of
merit, and excellence for her work, but the ones that mean the most to her are
the People's Choice awards.
